Responsibilities

Responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities, productivity and production of the manufacturing and repair departments.  Ensuring the general maintenance and repair of party rental inventory and preventative maintenance of facility equipment is conducted in a timely manner with quality results.

 

Must be able to train and direct activities of department staff. Oversee the maintenance and repair of internal and external equipment. Electrical, carpentry and welding knowledge is necessary. Order parts, tools and equipment as necessary.  Must be courteous, professional and knowledgeable with customers and staff in regard to safety procedures and rental equipment.

 

Must stand for long periods of time. Most work will be indoors with general warehouse conditions, in which some work areas may not be heated or air conditioned.  This job requires constant interaction with co-workers. This position requires frequent lifting and a significant degree of walking, bending and transporting objects of various weights and dimensions may also be required. May have exposure to chemicals, including but not limited to gasoline, propane, kerosene, paint and cleaning solvents.  Propane is an obvious hazard; hence a sense of smell is required.

 

Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Oversee the records management of all facility equipment and select inventory lines.
  • Maintain warranties, preventative maintenance schedules and repair records for the above.
  • Schedule preventative maintenance work with each department supervisor.
  • Recommend equipment purchases and sales based on maintenance records and company utilization policy.
  • Schedule delegation of workload daily by prioritizing work orders for internal and external repairs, formulating budgets and timelines.
  • Maintains parts, hardware, and supplies for repair section, orders to predicate levels.
  • Train new technicians, maintenance, and warehouse personnel if necessary on the systems and procedures for effective repair and maintenance of equipment and inventory.
  • Meet with members of management to discuss policies, problems and make recommendations.
  • Works closely with Inventory and QC team to ensure accurate inventory records are kept, back into service schedules are met, and inventory overbookings are minimized by turning equipment promptly.
  • Participates in inventory cycle counts.
  • Create and maintain an organized shop by developing a system and returning tools and unused parts to the appropriate storage area.
  • Stay informed of equipment failures and safety violations.
  • Establish safety and health policies and procedures for repair and service areas, reporting safety violations to Director of Operations.
  • Monitor hours of the repair department to ensure that budget is maintained.
  • Attend workshops, seminars and classes for innovative repair techniques as assigned by supervisor.
  • Assist and fill in for other positions, when necessary, for smooth operation of the business.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules and regulations in written or verbal form.
  • Comply with government safety requirements and other regulations and security in store.
  • Attend department, store and safety meetings.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent GED is preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to lift approximately 70 lbs.
  • Must possess knowledge in the construction and mechanical fields as well as knowledge in HVAC and plumbing.
  • Must have welding and painting experience.
  • Must have knowledge of and experience with woodworking equipment.
  • Must maintain a professional personal appearance.
  • Must possess customer relation skills.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to use mathematics to solve problems.
  • Computer knowledge is preferred. Training on rental software will be provided.
  • Must be able to speak English clearly and write legibly.
  • Must pass company drug screen.
  • Must maintain an acceptable attendance record.
  • Must have a full range of motion and dexterity.
  • Must be able to apply principles of rational thinking to solve problems.
  • Must be able to provide, understand and complete instructions furnished in written, oral or scheduled form.
  • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with co-workers.
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of patience and offer constructive criticism when necessary.
