The Human Resources Generalist will support the Tradeshows and Events Division and the Party Rental Division by providing Human Resources services. The role works closely with the HR Administration Manager, other HR team members, and field management to solve employee issues and help administer CORT's HR process. This position will assist in onboarding new team members, consult with managers on HR issues, and assist in administering HR policy and procedures to include benefits, compliance, and leave programs.


The ideal candidate will be looking to make Human Resources a career. This person will be a quick learner, problem solver, well organized multi-tasker with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability. This candidate will also be able to bring a project to completion, able to work effectively with people of different backgrounds and personality styles, approachable, and very comfortable utilizing technology. The position will be based in Chantilly, VA.


  • Ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance with CORT's HR standards.
  • Uses the HRIS to keep records of personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting. Manages leaves of absence. Maintains employee files.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Provides support for Corporate benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, 401K plan, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
  • Seeks proactive ways to resolve employee relations related issues to prevent future reoccurrences.
  • Develops working relationships with management and the field.
  • Maintains compliance with legal requirements and government reporting regulations and applies them to Human Resources function.  
  • Full-time position working 8 hours per day, five days per week.


  • College or university degree preferred.
  • Professional presentation and demeanor.
  • Able to keep confidentiality.
  • Well organized and able to handle a large volume of work.
  • Technologically savvy.
  • Analytical with business acumen.
  • Strong sense of customer service.
  • 0 to 5 years of experience Human Resources preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred. 
  • Experienced with Microsoft Excel
  • Familiar with Applicant Tracking Systems like iCIMS or Taleo
  • Familiar with HRIS systems like UltiPro or PeopleSoft
